Rock Cycle 2

Roxanne’s Change

There once was a little igneous rock named Roxanne.  She thought that she was the most beautiful rock in the world.  She had a beautiful color to her, and her grain size was just right.  She used her good looks against others.  She made fun of other rocks that had big bulky grains, and laughed at rocks that had too little grains.  Two kids getting made fun of were Morph, and Sed.  They hated Roxanne and her looks.  They wanted pay back.  They planned something for the next day, still chuckling at the thought.

Roxanne woke up in the morning and felt extremely bored.  Although looking in the mirror all day sounded like fun, she decided to go to the playground.  While showing everyone her texture, the two boys were getting ready for the plan.

“On the count of three, we run.  One, two, three!”

The boys charged at Roxanne.  Picking up great speed, they hit Roxanne so hard that she eroded and turned into sediment.

“Ahhh!” screamed Roxanne.

She saw a piece fall off of her and she got nervous.  She quickly ran into the ladies room and screamed when she saw herself.  Pieces were falling off her while others were smashed and crumbling.  She looked like an old crumbling building, knocked down and worthless.

“I’m ugly!”  she cried, and ran home as fast as she could, pieces of her falling into the road.

When she reached her house her mother and father were shocked when they saw her.  Her father put down the Daily Rockin’ News and asked “What happened?”

She told them everything, while she cried at the same time.

“Calm down sweetie,” her mom said.

Her mother and father both hugged her trying to comfort her, but used too much pressure.

While hugging her, they compacted her, turning her into sedimentary rock.

“Ahh!” Roxanne screamed again.  She quickly pulled herself out of her parents reach and ran to the bathroom screaming once again.

She was even worse than she was before.  Her mother walked in to see if she was okay.

“Mom, I’ll never look as good as I did before” said Roxanne.  “I was so pretty and now I look like everybody else, ugly.”  She started to cry again.

“There, there honey.  We’ll make you even better than you were before,” her mother said.  “Why don’t you take a relaxing lava bath, while I call a doctor to check you out?”  “Okay,” said Roxanne.  And so she left to go get some magma.

She traveled down into the basement and went to the magma chamber from the volcano near by.  She poured some magma in the bucket, turning it into lava.  She walked back, the heat from the bucket burning her while she walked upstairs and put the lava into the tub.  She hopped in, she felt so relaxed that she fell asleep.

Roxanne was asleep for two hours.  When she woke up, she saw that she was under water.  She tried getting up but couldn’t.  She felt as if she were a part of the lava.  Then she realized she was!

She splashed around violently, making waves and finally splashed out.  She was trying to cool down as quickly as she could.  She was only supposed to be in the tub for 30 minutes, or else she would melt; and that she did.

“I don’t want mom to see me as lava,” said Roxanne.

When she was finally cooled down and felt pretty rock-like, she decided to look in the mirror.  She was nervous to see what she looked like but looked anyway.  She was shocked when she saw herself.  She was an igneous rock again.

The next day, she didn’t make fun of anyone.  Everyone loved the new Roxanne.  The two boys, Morph, and Sed gave each other a high five.  Roxanne had finally learned her lesson and never made fun of any other rocks again.
