Dr. King’s Life
Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15 th , 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. He had a mom, dad, brother, and sister. His father was a minister at the church. Martin Luther King Jr. grew up in the church. He had a white friend but the white friend’s parents didn’t want him to be with an African American person. Martin wanted everyone to be treated equally. He wanted to end segregation so African Americans would be treated equally. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. became a minister. He went to a college called Boston University. Then, he married Coretta Scott and had 4 babies.
Martin Luther King Jr. wanted to spread love, not hate. There was a bus boycott in 1955. The bus company was losing money. It took a whole year to change the unfair bus law. After that, any African American or white person would be able to sit wherever they wanted to. In 1963, Dr. King led a march at Washington DC. He did aspeech called the I Have a Dream speech. After, he won the Nobel Peace Prize for bringing peace. Martin Luther King was shot and killed in 1968. In 1983, his birthday became a holiday.
