The Miserable Trip
It was a hot, sunny afternoon and Alea was squished. “Lilly…can…you stop…bouncing on me?” Alea managed to gasp. Even though the car had cooled seats, Lilly literally took up 3 seats bouncing on Alea. “Lilly!” She said in a higher voice. “I’m not a trampoline!”
“Sorry! I’m just so excited!” Lilly replied, still bouncing up and down. “Well, Lilly we just want to have the perfect vacation, but you’re acting like a frog on a kangaroo,” Their mom said.
“Stop bugging your sister,” she concluded. “Put your seatbelts on,” their dad said. Then they drove onto the road.
5 MINUTES LATER…
“Are we there yet?! Are we there yet?!” Lilly screamed continuously. “ Of course not moron!” It hasn’t even been 3 hours yet!” Alea said, particularly annoyed. “ How about you do you do your homework?” She added more politely. “You’re starting 3rd grade in less than two months, “And I’m starting 8th grade.” Alea muttered half under her breth. She soon began to wonder. “ Dad why have we stopped in the middle of nowhere?” Alea asked. “ Well, well, Alea, that’s it. We’re out of gas.” He finished with an uneasy look on his face. All of their faces turned white.
Lilly immediately jumped out of the moonroof window screaming S.O.S at the top of her lungs. “Don’t wreck the car, honey.” Mom yelled out to lilly. “Well, let’s enjoy sme time in the forest.” She suggested. Dad shuddered. “ Are you nuts! Do you literally expect me to stay here in the woods?!”
“Oh come on, It’ll be fun!” Mom added with a sly smile on her face.
“Alea, come on. We gotta make sure your little sister didn’t run into a tree.” Mom finished.
They found Lilly sitting next to a blueberry bush, staring at it wildly. She went crazy for blueberries. “Mom, make no sudden movemements,” Alea whispered. Instead, she did the exact opposite and screamed. Lilly shot up like a jet. With a round plump blueberry in her hands, she threw one in her mouth and one at Alea’s face. She was intimidated, even though her sister was much younger.
Suddenly, they heard a muffled, low pitched voice. “Ouchie, clink, clank. A little help here?” It added. Alea dared herself to go towared the voice. Then when she got closer, she saw the familiar black hair and light brown eyes.
“Dad!” Alea called. “What’s wrong?” She asked with a calm look on her face. “It turns out that_” hed didn’t get to finish. “Wait, I’ll go get Mom and Lilly.” Alea suggested. As Alea turned back, she tripped on a tree root and scratched her face with a twig. “ Oh great, now the blueberry stain is purple,” She muttered to herself. She found her mom and Lilly gazing up at the clouds and eating blueberries at the same time.
“Mom! Lilly! I found Dad!” She announced, breaking through their thoughts. “I’ll meet you there!” she added. Then Alea ran off.
“Where are they?” Dad asked quietly. “They’re coming.” Alea replied calmly. They waited for a few minutes. When Lilly and her mom came, they were out of breath. “Let’s tak quickly,” Mom said. “I saw a snake,” she finished Alea LOVED snakes. I’ll handle it. She thought on her head with a sly smile. She ran off.
Alea saw the snake. It was just a green garden snake. She put her hand underneath the leaves the snake was on and slowly lifted it. She put it at the edge of the woods. That will finally satisfy Mom. Then she ran back to the car.
“So, we need more time in the woods,” she heard her dad finish. “Oh, Alea, honey, there you are. And, to make a long story short the gas is fine, but the gears and transmission are stuck.” He said. There was a long pause of silence that Alea finally broke. “Of the car?” she asked quietly. Her dad nodded. We all just sate there for what seemed like a century. It was getting dark. “Let me make a fire,” Alea concluded.
Now with a crackling fire in front of them, they were trying to think of an idea. Alea just doodled on a leaf.
Her mom snatched the maple leaf out of her hand. She showed it to their dad. “Alea! That’s our jackpot!” Alea understood. The smooth slimy, juice would make the gears slippery enough to turn. She explained the materials and they got to work immediately.
Soon enough, they had all the things Alea wrote on her list. She made a looppe with of the branches and fastened it with the milkweed. Then she attached the other end of the milkweed to the bigger and pulled. “Lilly, blueberries.” She said out of breath. Lilly nodded vigorously as she put the blueberries on the platform. Mom and Alea pulled. Dand and Lilly pushed. The machiniery snapped, clicked and slapped down at the blueberries and smushed them on the milkweed. Alea picked the milkweed up and ran to the car.
“Dad, which ones the gears? “ she asked.
“That one,” her dad pointed to a variety of chain-looking thinies she slowly poured the blueish-indigish liquid on the gears and closed the hood. “Dad, try now,” she said holding her breath. If this didn’twork they’d be stranded in the woods…FOREVER!”
They all stared at the narrow chain-looking thing. Their dad got in the car and started the engine. First of all, it just clicked. Then it started getting faster and faster by the second. "Hey!" he said. "It's working! Climb in everyone!" he finished. " San Antonio, here we come!" They all shouted in unison.
The road was bumpy, and the blueberry juice in the gears made a squishy, mushy sound. But still. At least they were back on the road. Alea saw their hotel, Sheraton Four Points. "Dad, pull over I see our hotel."
"Okay," they heard their dad mumble.
They all stared at the hotel for a second. It was literally a skyscraper. "Dad," Alea said without looking back. "Which floor are we on?" He looked back at his paperwork.
"I think the top number 65." he announced with a relieved look. Lilly gulped. Alea knew why. Why? Well, she was afraid of heights of course!
They all climbed out of the car and showed the office people their paperwork. Alea saw the big glass cylinder. I guess that's the elevator, she thought with a smile. She hoped she could go on the 250-foot water slide. she absolutely LOVED heights.
As for Lilly, her stomach turned inside out! "Daddy can't we just climb the stairs?" Lilly asked in a shaky voice
"No Lilly Do you want to climb 65 stories? Well each story is 35 steps so that's 2, 275 steps!" Her dad said, kind of insanely. They climbed into the elevator and zipped up.
They stepped inside their room. It had three beds and a 60-inch flatscreen TV for each of them. "Oooh, this is luxury," Mom cooed, as we lay on the waterbeds.
The next morning, Alea realized the San Antonio waterways were closed, and she found dad next to a wide-open safe. " Well honey let's just wake up Lilly and have a good dinner." Dad suggested And go home, They thought at the same time.

The Bike with Mike
One day there was a guy named Mike
And he loved to bike
But he most loved his boy trying
His new trike
But then one day
He saw two trees blocking the way
And he went "Wow there's trees in my way!"
I better do a flip over
And land or I will turn into a clover
And then he did it!
He flipped the clover and spinned in the air
And landed down with a thumpy rump!
He said, "How be, I did do it! I have a flea on my knee."
I did good

Hi, my name is Gabrella and I am going through the biggest problem ever! I go to a Tae Kwon Do program and I’m leaving tomorrow all because of my dumb little brother Jack. And if that’s not bad enough I would be getting my black belt, but noooo… we have to leave on Friday. I swear he does this to me on purpose. The worst part is I have to leave my best friend Melissa. We have known each other since we were two. I also don’t know how to tell her I am leaving. I ‘m super scared…
“Hey Gabrella, what’s up?” asked Melissa. “Hey,” said Gabrella sadly.
“What’s wrong?” asked Melissa. “Nothing, I don’t want you to worry, “ said Gabrella.
“Ok, now I really want to know, and I’m worried,” said Melissa.
“Ok, Ok, I’ll tell you. Jack wants to leave Torres Tae Kwon Do!” said Gabrella. Jack was Gabrella’s little brother who always got his way.
“Well that’s not too bad. Jack will probably leave and will stop annoying us!” said Melissa.
“You don’t get it, Jack is leaving and to save money my parents are making me leave too,” said Gabrella.
“What…when were you planning on telling me?” asked Melissa.
“ I don’t know I was too sad,” said Gabrella. “ I will never be able to see you or get my black belt.”
“Wait a minute isn’t the black belt test this Saturday?” asked Melissa.
“Ya and I don’t get to go, “ said Gabrella angrily.
“So you’re leaving on Friday and the test is on Saturday… I can work with that.” Said Melissa devilishly. You should probably be warned that Melissa is really good at getting her friend what they want when they want. “All we need to do is convince him to stay until Tuesday,” said Melissa. “ Follow my lead.”
“Hey Jack, so you know how you wanted to bring a couple of boards home with you to practice?” said Melissa.
“Ya,” said Jack.
“Well because of the test they only have really hard boards. They will not have normal boards until next Thursday, “ said Melissa.
“Ok, I’ll ask Mommy and Daddy if we can leave next Friday, said Jack.
“Great…for you,” said Melissa. They ran back to their room and high-fived each other.
“ Awesome, but what about seeing you?” asked Gabrella. “ We can get our mom’s to put each other’s phone numbers and addresses in their phones,” said Melissa. “Ok, but I’m relaly going to miss you, “ said Gabrella. “ Me too, but we have to find the bright side,” said Melissa.
Finally it was the big black belt test. Melissa and Gabrella were so happy. They did awesome the entire test until the end. Meissa and Gabrella were doing the last part…fighting. Melissa was totally beating her partner, but Gabrella was totally losing. Her partner just kicked her really hard and she fell on the floor. Melissa looked over and saw, Gabrella was in pain. Melissa stopped fighting and ran over to see if she was ok. “ Are you alright asked Melissa.” No, I feel like I broke my leg,” said Gabrella. The highest black belt ran over and called.
The ambulance finally came and was taking Gabrella. “ Mom can I please go in the ambulance with Gabrella?”said Melissa.
“No,” said Melissa’s mom.
“Please, I just want to be there for my best friend, “ said Melissa.
“Well, when you put it that way of course you can,” said Melissa’s mom.
“ Really, thanks mom, “ said Melissa as she ran into the ambulance and take a seat. “Don’t worry Gabrella, you’re going to be okay,” said Melissa.
When they got to the hospital, the doctor ran a few tests on Gabrella. “Ok sweety. We are going to take you to the exam room where we are going to take some x-rays.” Said the nurse.
“Ok,” said Gabrella.
“Can I come or do I need to stay here?” asked Melissa.
“I think it would be better if you stay here,” said the nurse as she pushed the bed Gabrella was on out of the room.
When they got back the nurse told them that Gabrella broke her leg.”What!!!” screamed Gabrella. “I can’t break my leg. What about my black belt, “ said gabrella.
“ I’m sorry but your cast will be off in ten weeks,” said the nurse. “ And no sports, especially Tae KwonDo.” She handed Gabrella a pair of crutches and left the room.
“Well I guess we can all go home,” said Melissa.
“I’m so sorry honey. I know how bad you feel” said Gabrella’s dad. So Melissa and her mom went home, and Gabrella and her parents left.
The next day, Melissa baked a pan of cookies for Gabrella.” “ Hey Mom can you take me to Gabrella’s house, I made her some cookies and I want to get them to her before they get cold,” said Melissa. “ Well that’s so sweet of course I will,” said Melissa’s mom. So they got in the car and drove there.
Ding-Dong. “Mom can you get it,” said Gabrella.”Hello, Melissa what brings you here?” asked Gabrella’s mom.
“ I made some feel better soon cookies, can I give them to her?” said Melissa. “Wure, she’s in the family room.” Said Gabrella’s mom. Melissa walked in.
“Hey Melissa, what are you doing here?” asked Gabrella.
“I made you some feel better soon cookies,” said Melissa.
“It’s been better,” said Gabrella trying to force a fake laugh.
“So how did you break it anyway?”
“Well, I was Well I was fighting Danny and kicked me so hard in the stomach, and I fell on my leg the wrong way,” said Gabrella.
“Well, I should probably go home. See you tomorrow, “ said Melissa.
Jack felt bad about Gabrella’s leg, so he told his parents to wait until Gabrella’s leg got better.
A few weeks later Gabrella got her cast off, so the next day they had to leave. “Ok Gabrella, get packing. We are leaving tomorrow, said Jack.
“What Jack…I thought you said we were staying?” said Gabrella confused.
“I said you were staying until you got your cast of which you did so we are leaving tomorrow,” said Jack.
“But Jack, I’m not fully healed,” said Gabrella.
“Well that’s too bad,” said Jack. “I am going to ask mom if we can stay,” said Gabrella.
“Good luck with that,” mumbled Jack.
When Gabrella got home she rushed to the kitchen where her mom was cooking dinner. “Mom, can I please stay at Torres? I really miss Melissa?” asked Gabrella.
“I’m sorry it would just be too expensive,” said Gabrella’s mom.
“Why can’t we both just stay you always do what Jack wants and never what I want! Do you love him more or something!” Gabrella screamed.“Honey it’s just because he’s younger so-“
“So what he’s younger, so he gets to be a miniBRAT. He’s ruining my life!”screamed Gabrella.
“You know you’re right I always pay attention to him and never to you. So I will have you guys stay,” said Gabrell’as mom.
“Ya. Thanks mom!” said Gabrella.
“Hey Gabrella, why are you so happy?” asked Jack.
“Mom’s letting us stay at Torres!” said Gabrella.
“I’m still leaving, right Mommy?” asked Jack.
“Nope,” said Gabrella’s mom.
The next day at Torres, Gabrella came in super happy. “Why are you so happy? Asked Melssa.
“My mom is letting Jack and I stay, “ said Gabrella.
“No way,” said Melissa.
“Way,” said Gabrella They were so happy as they started partying around the room like crazy people.

Jenny felt sleepy.
Jenny's house was like a mansion. In fact it was one! "Jenny can I please try on your fancy clothes?" Asked Merdyth with the puppy eyes.
"Fine," replied Jenny.
"I guess I will change too," added Jenny.
"We should take the elevator up," said Jenny.
Ding, the elevator opened. "Which floor do you want to go to?"
"Maybe the fifth floor," answered Meredyth.
"Sure thing," said Jenny.
"Follow me, " said Jenny.
"Jenny can I call my mom to bring Quint?"
"Whatever," said Jenny. "Just make sure he doesn't scratch the furniture. Ok, I pinky promise," said Meredyth.
"Dell, can I please call my mom?"
"Sure." said Jenny's mother.
"Mom, can I bring Quint over?"
"Um. I'm not sure. Okay, I'll call you back."
"Dell can I bring Quint over?" asked Meredyth.
"Of course!" said Dell.
"Okay, I'll call my mom again."
"Hi mom! Yeah it's me again. Yes dell said I could bring Quint! Okay see you in a little while. Bye."
"Dell, my mom said she 'll be over here with Quint in an hour."
"Ok," Replied Dell. "Jenny will be so happy to see him.!"
"Jenny, Quint will be here in an hour!"
"What!" screamed Jenny. "I'm afraid Quint will eat Marabella!" added Jenny.
"Oh no!" shouted Meredyth.
"Meredyth trust me, I bet my mom can hear you from the first floor." Jenny said loudly.
"Can I see Marabella?" asked Meredyth.
"Aww, Marabella is just so adorable."
"Meredyth, soon you might not even be able to see Marabella again."
"Because Quint can eat Marabella."
"Quint is not big enough to each Marabella."
"Meredyth, he's humungous." Meredyth didn't reply.
"Oh Quint is here," replied Meredyth.
"Do not let Quint upstairs, said Jenny.
"Ok," agreed Meredyth.
"Oh Quint, my good boy," said Meredyth.
"Jenny can you bring Quint up to the fifth floor?" asked Jenny's mom.
"But Mom, Quint..."
"No buts." interrupted Jenny's mom.
"Let's take the stairs up," said Meredyth.
"Meredyth, do you know once a dog bit a bunny's butt. The bunny's butt turned blue and the bunny died."
"Gee I didn't know," admitted Meredyth. Meredyth kept on giggling.
"Meredyth, why are you laughing?"
"I'm laughing at your story."
"Meredyth it's not funny." scolded Jenny.
"Sorry," apologized Meredyth.
"Meredyth, what do you want to do?" asked Jenny.
"I want to go to your room," replied Meredyth.
"OK," said Jenny.
"Aah, screamed Jenny.
"Jenny, why are you screaming?" asked Meredyth.
"I'm screaming because Quint will eat Marabella."
"Oh," whispere Meredyth.
"Jenny, now can I try your outfit on?"
"Ok," said Jenny.
" OOoh, I want this one to wear."
"Then wear it!" said Jenny.
"Hey Meredyth can I pet Quint?"
"Sure, Jenny, because you're my best friend."
"Aww, he's soo fluffy!" complimented Jenny.
"Thanks," replied Meredyth.
"Can I pet Marabella?"
"Go ahead." Jenny told Meredyth.
"Whoa, Marabella's fur looks like sparkling white snow."
" I know and thank you!" said Jenny.
"Switching time!" yelled Jenny.
"Here's Marabella's." Meredyth plopped Marabella into Jenny's hand. Jenny let Quint go with her other hand.
"Here's Quint." replied Meredyth. Suddenly Quint barked.
"Ruff, roff, bark, bark." Yep that's what Quint said.
" I wonder what that means," said Jenny, wondering her thoughts out loud.
"Hey let's take Quint and Marabella out." said Meredyth.
"No, let's take Quint and Marabella into the living room!" Yelled Jenny.
"Whatever you want," muttered Meredyth.
Downstairs meredyth said to her mom," Quint 's barking at Marabella."
" Well maybe Quint's barking at Marabella because she's a bunny."
"Because, because, because," said Meredyth. "Hmph." squealed Quint when he looked at Marabella.
"See Mommy," said Jenny.
"Jenny how many times did I tell you to not interrupt when an adult is speaking?"
"Mom it's important." Jenny went on.
"Ok, what is it?" asked Jenny's mom.
"Well when Quint looks at Marabella, he squeals!"
"Oh, maybe Quint doesn't like Marabella."
"After all, he is much bigger."
"Quint, stop, do not chase Marabella," scolded Meredyth.
"Grrr, growled Quint."
"Wait, Quint is chasing Marabella?"
"Yes, he's chasing Marabella."
"Meredyth, what was that?" asked Dell
"I'm so sorry," apologized Meredyth.
"What for?" asked Dell.
"For Quint breaking your lamp."
"What?" shouted Dell.
"Dell, Dell, I'm so sory about that," said her Jenny's mom.
"NO," screamed Jenny and Meredyth together.
"I'll chase Quint up the stairs." replied Jenny.
"No, I will," said Meredyth.
"Okay, then I'll take the elevator," said Jenny. Jenny pressed the elevator button.
"Hey, look," said Meredyth. "Quint's opening a drawer."
"Stop It's not cool," said Jenny.
"Quint broke my mom's pencil necklace."
"So!" replied Meredyth.
"So my mom got it for her wedding," said Jenny.
"Ooops" realized Meredyth.
"I have to tell my mom," said Jenny.
"Mom, Meredyth's dog bit your pearl necklace and it broke.."
"Well, you might have to buy me a new one."
"You are going to have to pay." said Dell.
Jenny and Meredyth started to cry.
Jenny suddenly woke up! Jenny was only dreaming. " What a nightmare!" said Jenny.
Annalise, Age 9
It was a beautiful, sunny day. Ella and her family went to The Great Escape. She and her family had never been there before. Ella and Ava had been wanting to go there for a really, long time. They were happy that they were there. " Let's go on a ride," Ella said.
"Can we go on the log ride first?" asked Ava.
"Ok," said Dad." Let's go!"
"This is a long line," said Ella.
"Don't worry," said Mom. "You just have to be patient for a little while."
"OK," said Ella.
"You too, Ava." said Mom.
Finally, Ella and Ava got on their log ride. They were so excited to on the log ride. It was going a little slow up the hill and a little faster down the hill. When Ella and Ava almost got to the top of the big hill, suddenly, the cart stopped. It went backwards down the hill very fast. It kept going up and down until the guy found the switch. Finally, Ella and Ava got off. "Boy, I'm so dizzy." said Ella.
"So am I," said Ava.
"Thank gosh we got off that ride," said Ella.
"That ride wasn't supposed to go backwards," said Dad. " I have a little map in my pocket that tells me what rides go backwards, what rides go forwards, the names of the rides and where the rides are located."
Ella and Ava said," we were so shocked. We never thought that was going to happen."
"I agree," said Mom and Dad. "We were shocked too."
"Let's go find another ride to go on," said Ella.
"OK," said Ava, Mom and Dad.
Suddenly it started to pour and a few minutes later it started to lightning outside, so they went under a tent for a little while, waiting for the rain to stop, but it didn't. It got worse, so the whole park started to close, most of the rides started to close too. Everyone was trying to rush to get out of the park.
Then Ella, Ava, Mom and Dad got in the car and started to drive away. They got home safely and Ella and her family waited for a little while and the rain and lightning finally stopped. Ella and Ava were so happy.
Then the telephone started to ring, Ella and Ava were wondering, "Who can that be?" Dad said, "I will answer it."
When he was done, Ella and Ava asked who was that.
"It was the manager from the Great Escape, they said that it stopped raining and the lightning stopped and nothing is flooded. The best part is he said that we can go back if we want."
"Well, then let's go," said Ella and Ava.
"Ok," said Dad, "Let's go everyone." Ella and her family got in the car and drove back to the Great Escape. when they got on the highway, Ella and Ava's Dad's car broke down.
"Oh no," said Ella." Will we be there on time?"
"If this car gets fixed fast," said Dad. Dad called and auto-repair guy from one of the car repair stores. Then the person came to fix it. When the auto repair guy was done, Dad said, "Thank you." And they finally drove away.
When Ella and Ava got there again, they got to go on every ride they wanted to go on because The Great Escape was very uncrowded.
"That was so fun," said Ella and Ava. "It was cool that we went on the log ride," Ella said. I was kind of shocked that we went backwards on the log ride," said Ella.
"So was I," said Ava.
"Me too, " said Mom.
"Me too," said Dad.
Even though everything seemed to go wrong, Ella and Ava still had a lot of fun at The Great Escape!
Brianna, Age 10
It was a beautiful summer day at the swimming dolphins day camp. Arianna and Jessica sat on the beach together. Surrounding them were blue and purple day lilies and yellow poppies. Aztec flowers bloomed and with twho matching notebooks, Arianna and Jessica talked while they wrote summer poems. Even thought it wasn’t gloomy out, Arianna was a very gloomy person. “A.A. what’s wrong?” asked Jessica.
“Oh umm...nothing ,” she replied. “Arianna Genna Smith! You tell me everything now!Cuz I’m a your best friend!” she yelled back. “One, don’t use my middle name and two, it’ll ruin your day. I’ll tell you later. Let’s just try to enjoy the day together and have fun!” Arianna said. They set out for a day of fun at a mini golf comlex with the other campers and counselors. “Hole in one!” yelled Arianna as she picked her red golf ball out of a hole.” “Again?” asked Jessica doubtfully.”Yep!”replied Ariann persuasively. “ I only got an eagle!” said Jessica glumly. “I know I’m the best! Uh! I’m the best! Yeah!” she sung. “Alright everyone time for some ice cream.” Said counselor Billy Bob. “Yay. Ice cream!’ screamed all the campers. “I’m getting a soft twist!” said Jessica. “I’m getting cookies and cream with cracked pistachios.” Said Arianna so they walked over to the ice cream stand. “Psssttt...hey Jess!” whispered Arianna. “Yeah!?” asked Jessica. “Come here!” said Arianna. The two girls stopped at a large closet. On the front it said, High Voltage! “Umm...AAa? “Yeah.” “Why are we here?” “Cuz its private!” replied Arianna.”Ohh, she said back.” Hold on I’ll go get our zebra print notebooks.” “Ok” said Jessica. So Arianna went back over to the bag she’d taken while Jessica went into the closet. Neither girl knew what horror was up next. “Jessie, I’m ba-ack! “ said Arianna as she tried to open the door to the high voltage closet. “Uh..” said Arianna. “Uh...what?” yelled Jessica worriedly. “ I ca-ca-ca-can’t ge the door open! “OMG, OMG” she started screaming. Before long there were many camp counselors, golf aids, 60 kids, two wrestlers with crowbars and jessica’s worried parents at the scene. First, the counselors took a gigantic Pinocchio from hole 16 and tried to break open the door. That didn’t work! Next, the two giant men with crowbars tried to open it too but that didn’t work either! So now it seemed Jessica would spend her life in that lonely closet, but suddenly, Arianna got an idea. “ Ding” she said aloud. Arianna ran ran over to where you buy or borrow golf equipment. Oh boy I hope this works!” she thought. Arianna thought of Jessica all the way back. Jessica’s mom was tall and think, so was her dad. “Hello, Mrs. Tanner, “ said Arianna looking up at her bff’s parents. “Hi little one,” said Jessica’s mom with tears in her eyes. “I’m so sorry about Jess,” she mumbled. “Oh honey. It’s ok it’s not your fault.” Said Mrs. Tanner. “Well I gotta go, I have a plan to help jessie out.” Said Ariana happily. “I believe in you sweets!” said Jessica’s dad, “ I believe in you.” Arianna took her equipment out of her bag. She set up a tee to hit her golf ball. As Jessica yelled, “Help!” she got in a ready stance. “Alright Jessie, I have a plan but, for it to work you need to move away from the door.” “Okay,” replied Jessica. The crowd then started t shout “Ar-e-anna, Ar-e-anna!” At first all the balls she hit made dents. Soon, Arianna hit other balls through the dents and made holes. Everyone then saw two eyes peeking out of the holes. As Arianna was about to hit her last ball...The door came crashing down on her! There Jessica was covered with dust and dirt and she came crashing down on the door! Jessica and Arianna were sent to the hospital with scrapes and bruises.”Thank you, thank you, OMG Thank you!” yelled Jessica happily. “Aw shucks, “ said Arianna. “No Arianna, you’re my HERO!” said Jessica...”You’re my hero...”
"Good Morning, everyone," said Mrs. Tracy, their counselor.
"Good Morning," echoed the kids.
"Today we're gong on a nature walk in Saratoga,"
"Sigh!" Every kid in the room sighed a loud sigh.
"Oh, don't be like that!" Ms. Tracy said firmly.
"Okay, Ms. Tracy," said the kids.
"Now, go to a center!" she said smiling.
"Come on A-A, let's play Jenga!" yelled Jessica.
"K-K," she answered back. So the two girls took out a box of wooden blocks.
"Well, this won't knock it down," said Arianna, placing a block next to the tower. " Well this seems reasonable and all at once the tower came crashing down.
"Okay, Kids" said Ms. Tracy as they stood in front of Saratoga Nature Park."Follow me," she said walking onto a nature trail.
"Ooo! This looks like fun!" said Arianna excitedly.
"Okay, Nature Girl, how about we go roll in burrs and let spiders crawl all over us!" said Jessica sarcastically.
"Oh be quiet," she replied.
"Well, the site is beautiful," said Jessica agreeing with Arianna.
"Let's just try to have a little fun," she said. So the girls walked along not thinking naything would go wrong.
"Ow!" yelled Jessica falling on a pile of burrs. "OMG they're all over your back," said Arianna. "Well at least there's no spider on my leg," said Jessica pointing at Arianna's leg. There was a hairy brown , jumping spider on her leg.
"Ahhhh," screamed Arianna.
"What's all the yelling and hissing about?" asked Ms. Tracy.
"I fell in burrs and there's a huge jumping spider on her leg!" yelled Jessica in horror. Ms. Tracy flicked the spider off and plucked the burrs off of Jessica's back.
"There, all better."
"What an amazing nature walk!" said Arianna excitedly.
"Guess you were right about how beautiful it was," said Jessica.
"Duh...of course. I was right." she replied.
"Okay, kids we have, chicken salad, Ritz crackers and carrots."
"Thank goodness. I brought lunch!" said Jessica happily.
"Well, I prefer that over YUCK bologna !" said Arianna with a grossed out look on her face.
"Kids, since we have an hour left...You may go play on the playground and blacktop." So all the kids stormed on to the playground. "Oooo! A basketball court!" said Jessica excitedly.
" What about?"
" I play basketball! C'mon let's start a game!" So they started a game, and Wow! did Jessica beat her!
"OMG, you're good!" she said.
"Wow, that was an actual good day!" said Jessica.
"Yeah you're right!" said Arianna. "But I gotta tell you something I didn't want to tell you earlier. I'm MOVING."
"No! Arianna this can't be,"
"Oh, yes it can. I'm moving tomorrow..."
It was a beautiful July day and everything but Jessica and Arianna were happy."
"Oh A-A, I'll miss you more than anything!" said Jessica with a tear.
"I'll miss you too!" said Arianna. She hugged Jessica so hard, she was almost flattened.
They watched a U-Haul truck drive away with Arianna's bed and fuzzy lounge chair.
"Wanna have some lunch?"
" No thanks Arianna."
"Well let's at least go play with Muffins." So they went to go play with Arianna's cat.
"Goodbye forever!" said Arianna as she hugged Jessica tightly.
"Come on let's get going," said her dad.
"Okay," said Arianna as she hopped into the car. She waved to Jessica until she was a dot in the misty fog. She was going to Europe for a better life.
"It's okay honey." said her mom. No matter what, Jessica was sad. Her head hung as she walked down the block to her house.
"French-French-French," said Arianna as she was watching TV in her new house in Paris. Suddenly, a video popped up. It was Jessica. She was playing in a basketball championship leading her team to VICTORY! " Mom, Dad! I saw a video of Jessica leading her team to victory on te frenche newse, " yelled Arianna.
"Oh that's GREAT!" Arianna jumped for joy. She texted her so fast she was out of breath. They were so excited. Their excitement spread across the ocean despite how far apart they were. They'd had the worst summer. But it was turning into the Best Friendship Ever! No matter how far apart they were they'd always be Best Friends!

Ring went the phone. "I think it's Sam," said Luke. "I will get it."
"No! You always get the phone," said Ryan. They were fighting over the phone, so long that it stopped ringing. "You made the phone stop ringing," said Ryan. They were fighting over the phone so long that it stopped ringing," said Ryan.
"No! You did," Luke argued back.
"Let's just walk over to his house."
Ding-dong they rang, the door bell. No one answered, so they went to the back door knowing. It's always unlocked. "Hi Sam," they yelled at the same time. "Jinx, you have to give me a coke.
"Make me," said Luke. They got in another fight.
"Watch where you're going!" yelled Luke Ryan stepped on a cage and it opened.
As fast as a gunshot a bird came out of the cage. All they saw on the bird was an orange marker. " You broke the cage," said Luke.
"It's your fault, if you did not push me, I wouldn't have ell on it and broke it."
"Ha, you just admit you broke it."
"Sam will be very mad at you," said Luke.
"Why will I be mad at Ryan?"
"Ahhh." Luke and Ryan both yelled.
"When did you get here?" Ryan asked.
" A couple of seconds ago," said Sam. Luke explained the whole thing to Sam.
"That is my new pet bird!" said Sam. "Now we have to go looking for my bird."
"Good Luck," said Ryan to Luke.
"If anyone should help it's you," said Luke to Ryan.
"Or you can both help," said Sam. So all three of them went out of the back door and into the woods.
"We should go to the right. You always go to the right," said Luke.
"Maybe I can go straight," Ryan can go right and Luke can go left." So each of them went in three different directions into the woods.
Luke watched Sam and Ryan walk away. Now Luke was alone. in the woods with no one to help him. "Bang!" There was one strike of lightning and then it started to pour. Luke had to find a shelter fast. Luckily, Luke saw a small opening under a pine tree and went in it. After a while, Luke heard a thump and a scream. So Luke went outside to find out what had just happened.
It was Sam. He had tripped over a log and hurt his ankle. Out of nowhere, Ryan came out of the third path. Since Sam could not walk he tapped on Luke weakly and pointed in a tree.
"You're crazy," Luke said to Sam. Then Ryan started to climb the tree. Luke yelled at Ryan to get down from the tree. Half way up the tree, one-handed and yelled back," No! since it had just rained Ryan slipped off the tree and while he was falling he grabbed on to a tree branch,(good part) but he hurt his hand so it would take a while to climb down. Then Luke saw what Ryan climbed up the tree for. It was the bird Ryan had lost! Now Luke was the only one left to rescue the bird. Luke told Ryan to come down because their was a hill that went to the top of the tree to reach the bird.
Since Ryan was not able to climb down a tree well, it took about 10 minute to get down. By then Luke had the bird and they all started going back to the house. Sam's ankle did not hurt any more. The three boys tried to get away with it but didn't. All three of them got grounded and had to do chores for a week, and if they got in a fight they would spend and extra day doing chores!

"BOOM! BOOM!" went the radio. Kelly and Julie were jumping up and down listening to their favorite songs. They fell to the ground laughing so hard they couldn't breathe. BOOM! But that time it wasn't the radio! Kelly and Julie stood up from the ground and stopped laughing.
"Did you hear something?" asked Julie.
"Yeah!" started Kelly.
"Yup, but I wonder what..." BOOM! The noise cut off Julie. It startled them and they fell to the ground. "WHAT IS THAT NOISE?" asked Julie angrily.
"Let's go find out!" said Kelly. "But we're not going through the garage. That's bad luck!" Julie nodded.
They ran downstairs and grabbed their shoes and ran out the door.
Meanwhile Kelly and Julie's little sister were up in Kayla's room playing with dolls. Kayla and Emily were obsessed with dolls. They'd spend their whole day in their rooms picking out the pretty dresses they had for them. Kelly and Julie on the other hand, like to play outside and take bike rides
"Isn't this dress pretty?" asked Kayla.
"Yeah," started Emily. "It totally is, but I'm really hungry! Let's go ask Mom for a snack."
"Ok, said Kayla. "Let's go!" They went downstairs to the kitchen where their Mom was.
"Mom," asked Kayla and Emily. "Can we please have a snack?"
"Sure honey how about I pop some popcorn?"
"Ok," said Emily. "But I think getting Kelly and Julie will be a good idea, " Mom said happily. Kayla and Emily ran upstairs into Julie's room, Kelly's room and all the rooms upstairs! They weren't there! "Mom!" Emily said worrying. "I can't find them! We checked every room up there!"
"Did you take a peek outside?" suggested Mom.
"No!" They both said. They grabbed their shoes and ran to the door.
Kelly and Julie were in the front yard. They couldn't seem to find what was making the noise, so they decided to look in the backyard. As they turned the corner, Kayla and Emily stepped out the front door.
"Not out here!" hollered Kayla to Emily. "Come on," started Emily. "Don't just give up! Let's look behind these bushes just to check."
"Ok," said Kayla and they started to look.
Kelly and Julie still couldn't find out what was making the Big BOOM! sound in the backyard either! They thought it was too nice of a day to sit inside. So they started playing tag. They got a little carried away and started running up the big hill toward the garage. ( They had a big hill and a little in their backyard.)
Emily and Kayla were still looking. Finally, Kayla says, " Let's go look in the backyard!"
"Ok," said Emily. They ran down the little hill into the backyard. They looked around, but still, they couldn't find them. They looked around, but still, they couldn't find them. "Listen Kayla," said Emily. " We HAVE to split up!"
"Oh alright," said Kayla. " BUT we MUST look hard."
"I promise!" vowed Emily and with that they split up.
Kayla was wandering around when she saw a girl run into the neighbor's yard. She ran toward the neighbors' yard and saw the nice neighbor Mrs. Tallyhawk!
"Oh, Hi Kayla! What's up?" asked Mrs. Tallyhawk sweetly. "Honey, your face is so RED! How about you come in for some cookies and lemonade!"
"Ok!" said Kayla forgetting about her sisters. She walked in the house. It smelled so nice! like a beautifully smelling rose. Her house was always clean too!
"While I make the cookies and lemonade Kayla, you can watch TV. I only have a few kid channels so choose wisely," blurted out Mrs. Tallyhawk.
"Ok!" said Kayla. She went into the living room and sat down.
Meanwhile, Kelly and Julie were walking around the front yard when they saw Emily searching in the bushes
"Emily!" yelled Julie.
"Julie!" Emily yelled back.
"Where's Kayla?" asked Julie.
"I told her to go that way because I thought we should split..." started Emily.
"WELL," interrupted Julie. "You should have stuck together."
"Give them a break Julie. They're only in." Kelly was about to say...
"She's got to be in this yard somewhere!: started Kelly. " She's totally not the type to go on other people's property."
Meanwhile Kayla and Mrs. Tallyhawk were sitting on the couch watching funny cartoons!
"Where is Mr. Tallyhawk," asked Kayla.
"Oh he's at the market getting food for cupcake, muffin and sprinkles." Cupcake and Muffin were two funny Tabby cats. Sprinkles was a lazy, but playful golden retriever who LOVED to sleep and play fetch. "I haven't seen any of them yet!" said Kayla.
"They are probably upstairs sleeping or something," said Mrs. Tallyhawk.
"Can I go look for them?" asked Kayla.
"Sure go ahead." said Mrs. Tallyhawk, sweetly.
Kayla trotted up the stairs and checked in the bathroom. She found Cupcake and Muffin fighting in the bathtub. Kayla spent a few minutes with them and then set off to find Sprinkles. She looked in Mr. and Mrs. Tallyhawk's bedroom, bathroom, and closet. She even checked in the guest room. She walked around the hall worrying, where her eyes met another door. She had never seen the room nor gone in it. She didn't know if she should go in it. She opened the doorknob and walked in. She saw beautiful quilts that looked like they were made by Mrs. Tallyhawk herself! There were ones with flower patterns, circles, squares and every pattern you could think of. She searched for Sprinkles, but couldn't find him. She ran down the stairs trying to hide her tears.
"What's wrong?" asked Mrs. Tallyhawk. "I'll make you more cookies right away!" said Mrs. Tallyhawk, sweetly.
"No," said Kayla "That's not it."
"Then what is wrong! Please sit down Kayla, Cupcake, Muffin and Sprinkle. We'll be down in one second." That made Kayla cry even harder. "Sprinkles, Cupcake, Muffin! come down here!" said Mrs. Tallyhawk, then came Cupcake and Muffin. They settled on the couch. "Now what's wrong?" asked Mrs. Tallyhawk. "Sprinkles," started Kayla. I went upstairs and checked in EVERY room! But I couldn't find him anywhere!" Mrs.Tallyhawk didn't say anything.
Finally, Mrs Tallyhawk said, "Well let's go look outside. Get your shoes on and I'll go get his favorite doggy treats." As they walked out the door they started going through the nature trail.
Meanwhile, Kelly, Julie and Emily were still searching when their dad tells pulls up in the driveway. "What's wrong?" he asked.
"We can't find Kayla!" They all said.
"Well hop in the car. We can go look." he said. Everyone got in the car and stared out the window as they went by the nature path. Guess who they saw? Sprinkles! They all jumped out of the car and grabbed Sprinkles. "Come on Sprinks! We'll take you home!" said Kelly cheerfully. They got in the car, and drove to Mrs. Tallyhawk's house. They brought Sprinkles to Mrs. Tallyhawk's front steps. Ding Dong! went the doorbell. Ding Dong it went again. Nobody answered. So they decided to bring Sprinkles to their house and play fetch.
Meanwhile Kayla and Mrs. Tallyhawk were still searching. The sun was coming down. It was getting dark, so Mrs. Tallyhawk pulled out the flashlight from her pocket, and flicked the switch on. They walked around in search for Sprinkles. Kayla had a bunch of thoughts in her mind. What if we NEVER find Sprinkles she thought. That would be really sad. Just the thought of that brought tears to her eyes. But she remembered to stay calm. Awooooo! went a wolf. "Mrs....Mrs...Mrs....Tallyhawk. I'm...I'm...really scared!" Kayla blurted out. "Oh sweetheart don't be scared! We will find Sprinkles in no time. But for know let's get back to my house. On the way their we will leave a note on your door saying that you will stay over tonight. Just to tell your parents,." said Mrs. Tallyhawk.
"Ok," mumbled Kayla. After they left the note on Kayla's door. They went to Mrs. Tallyhawk's house. Mrs. Tallyhawk brought Kayla upstairs into the guest bedroom and tucked her in. "Don't worry about Sprinkles," started Mrs. Tallyhawk.
"We'll find him."
"Goodnight," Kayla said.
"Goodnight Sweetie!" said Mrs. Tallyhawk. She turned off the light and walked down the hall.
Meanwhile, Julie, Emily, and Kelly were all being tucked into bed too. Their Mom and Dad came into each room and said, "You girls get some rest. We will continue to look for Kayla." As they slept all of the girls even Kayla thought about each other. Sprinkles was still at Kelly, Julie and Emily's house snoring away. Kelly, Emily, and Julie all woke up early to walk Sprinkles. It was a beautiful day! They started to play tag. They were screaming and laughing away. That woke up Kayla with a fright. She went to the light switch and turned it on. She crept to the window. she opened the blind, but couldn't see anything. It was just the backyard. She ran back into the bed and a moment later heard more laughing. She ran back to the window, but saw nothing. She opened the door to the room and tip-toed out. She walked down the stairs and looked out the BIG window. She couldn't believe what she saw! She saw her sisters playing with Sprinkles! She ran back upstairs and awoke Mrs. Tallyhawk. "Come!" started Kayla. "Its great news!" Mrs. Tallyhawk followed Kayla down the stairs. They walked to the front door and opened it up. As they stepped outside everyone ran to each other! Sprinkles barked with joy! Soon the children's mom and dad came out. Soon Mr. Tallyhawk came back from the store and said, "Who wants a cupcke?"
"I do!" everyone screamed happily.
"Let's go back inside and have some popcorn like originally!" said Emily.
"I'll go ask!" She came back a few moments later. Emily came out. " She said yes, but we all have to go through the garage, so Kelly and Julie can get over their fear of garages."
"Well it is bad luck to walk through garages," said Kelly and Julie proudly.
"Come on Kayla! Let's show them it isn't bad luck to walk!" said Emily. And with that they both went into garage and trotted inside.
"Great!" whined Julie.
"Now we are out here alone!"
"We are NOT going through the garage," said Kelly.
"Let's go check all the doors." They checked every door, but they were all LOCKED! After a half and hour their mom let them in. When they walked in Kayla and Emily were at the table eating popcorn.
"Let's get the more buttery popcorn!" They said. They reached their had to the bottom then out popped...a MOUSE. " We told you in was bad luck to walk through garages!" Julie and Kelly said proudly.

It all started Jan 12 when my best friend Isabella and I went to NYC for my birthday. If I knew what would happen, I would have never gone. Now let's go back to this terrible Subway Disaster.
"Ding Dong." I ran to the door and opened it. "Happy Birthday Nikki." Issy my best friend said.
"Thanks," I said. I held my hand up to shake hands She grabbed my hand. BUZZ. She quickly took her hand away from mine.
"Owww!" she said.
"My bad," I said. She looked at my hand. There was a silver thing on it. A buzzer. if you would know me well you would know. I love pranks and sometimes I can't control myself.
"Really," Issy said. " Don't worry there's more where that came from," I said.
"Is everything ready?" Our Mom's said.
"Yep," we said.
"Oh wait," Issy said. before we leave here. She handed me an envelope. I tore it open. It said, "Love you like a sister." I opened the card and $30 fell out.
" I was looking for that," I said.
"Yea, yeah. It's for the American Girl Doll Store," Issy said.
"Thanks," I said and slipped it into my jacket pocket.
When we got to my Aunt's apartment, we took our suitcases out of the trunk.
"Issy, let me take your suitcase," I said.
"Alright," she said. I had a smile on my face. I reached into my pocket and took out the $30. I stuffed it back into my pocket. This time I took out the thing I was looking for. "Fake vomit." I put it on Issy's bag. It was shiny and gooey and looked exactly like fake vomit.
"Oh," I said. "I think I'm going to be sick." Issy looked around and when she saw the fake vomit she flipped, "OMG OMG THAT'S DISGUSTING"
"Got you good," I said.
"What?" she said. "I dunno." My mom got it for me. I got to admit she said, "but you are getting good at pranks."
"Thanks." She gave me back my vomit. I put it back in my pocket and started rolling my suitcase. Issy was following behind. Our moms were still getting stuff out of the trunk. Ding Dong.
Aunty Eva opened the door, "Hello," she said. I ran up to hug her.
"Happy Birthday," she said.
"Hi," Issy said. I'm so excited to see all of you by this time. Our moms were chatterboxing away. When we settled in, Aunty Eva brought out grapes and pasta and our favorite. When it ws time to go, Issy and I both brought our American girl Dolls with a cute outfit on them. We put them in the car, put on our seatbelts and left. We passed a lot of graffiti and buildings.
"We are here," my mom said.
"Yaa, " we said.
We spent one hour there. We looked at clothes, accessories and in the end we both got Makena. "We've been waiting here since we saw her commercial. We went to eat something. Now it was night and it was time for the subway. We were so happy but not knowing who the subway disaster was.
"Alright," my mom said.
"Let's go!" My mom stated us. We went down the stairs into the subway. There we saw a man playing beautiful music. We each gave him a dollar Then we got our tickets and started waiting.
"Bump, bump, bump, bump, bump, bump," It started coming. We watched it go quickly and then it stopped. Then I got an idea.
"Issy, can I see your bracelet," I asked.
"Sure" Issy said. She took it off and handed it to me I took it. We all got on the subway. I quickly threw here bracelet out of the subway.
"No! That's my favorite bracelet." She quickly ran out. I followed her. "NO!" Our mom's said. I grabbed the bracelet , turned around, and the doors closed and the subway quickly started moving again The subway was white and blue. There were benches outside to wait and a bright light. We both froze and our eyes locked on each other. Our hearts were thumping. We started panicking. We didn't know what to do or say. We stood there for what seemed like a long time as we heard the subway click further down the track. then I held up the bracelet. "I found it." I said in a high voice. She snatched it from me.
"What are we going to do?' Issy asked.
"We should wait on the bench. They'll come back."
"Ok," she said. One hour past, no one came. We were hungry, cold and scared.
"Ok," I said in a soft voice."So...maybe they aren't coming."
"Um, I'm hungry," I said.
"Me too," Issy said.
"Wait," I said I have the thirty dollars you gave me. We could buy something to eat."
"Okay," Issy said.
We walked up the stairs and onto the street. Taxis were still driving and people were still walking. We saw a man selling hotdogs. We went up. Each hot dog was two dollars. We bought two. We gave the man four dollars. He gave us our hotdogs.
"Thank you," I said.
"Your are welcome," he said. We found a bench and ate our hot dogs. We left half, just in case we got hungry again. We had twenty six dollars life. We needed to spend it wisely. Then we came across a man selling lights They were 3 and it was dark so we bought one and we had 23 more dollars left.
Later on when we were walking Issy started yelling, " This would have never happened if you wouldn't have thrown my bracelet!"
"Hey," I said. "This isn't the time to blame people."
"Well maybe it is, " she said.
"Fine if you are going to argue then I 'll find my mom by myself."
I said, "fine.". We walked in different directions. Then I noticed that I had the hot dogs, the light and the money and Issy just had herself. I had walked pretty far and I had been walking straight, so I ran once I saw her.
"Issy," I said. She turned around. "I'm sorry," I said.
"Its okay," she said. "I'm sorry too."
"Now, let's go back to the subway," I said.
"Ok," she said.
When we were walking back I heard something familiar. It sounded like our mom's and American Girl Doll bags. I ran up Issy followed behind. "MOM!" I shouted and ran up and hugged her. Issy ran up and hugged her. Issy ran up to hug her mom too. We were worried sick. My mom said we looked everywhere.
"How did you survive?" My mom joked. I put my birthday money in my pocket and we bought food and light.
"If I got lost in a subway like you girls, I have never survived."
"Well let's get back to Aunty Eva's apartment," my mom said. We all got in our car and buckled our seat belts. While we were driving, me and Issy ate our hotdogs. When we got there we went up the stairs and rang her doorbell. She opened the door. When we were settled, we told her everything.
"Oh, my gosh!" she said. "It sounds like you two need something warm. We both got our fluffy Pj's on and sat on Aunty Eva's couch.
Aunty Eva came out with hot cocoa with a ton of marshmallows. "Yum." We watched TV for a bit then we all went to bed and right before I closed my eyes, I promised never to do a prank again, but you all know I can't do that.
