Aqua

Rebecca, Age 9 West Sand Lake Elementary

Once upon a time there was a dragon named Aqua. She was as blue as the sea unlike any other dragon. But she had a problem, all the other dragons including her family thought she was weird.  They were all either red, orange or yellow. They were fierce and violent. Aqua was shy, a vegetarian, and enjoyed reading. One day her sister, Tiger called out, “Hurry up, weirdo! We’re having shark for dinner!” “Ummmm...okay?” replied Aqua in a soft voice. But secretly insider her head she was thinking, “Uggh! I’m sick of fish and meat! Why can’t we have salad!?!” After a very disgusting dinner, Aqua headed to her sand burrow.

Shortly after, she fell asleep to the sound of rain. It was a long and stormy night. While she was sleeping, her sisters Thorn and Tiger were coming up with a horrible plan. “What should we do?” sneered Thorn. “Well we could throw here into the sea. She can’t swim remember?” growled Tiger in response. All of a sudden Aqua woke up by the sound of the waves crashing in the sea. “Yawn! What time is it?” Aqua said in a tired voice. Tiger and Thorn quickly ran off their own sand burrows on the sandy beach. Luckily Aqua knew when something weird was going on. She scrambled back into her burrow and found an old leather bag. She stuffed some fruit, bread and some cheese inside and started off on her journey. She had no ideas where she was going, but she knew she had to get as far away as possible from the beach. She also didn’t know what they were planning but she knew it had to be pretty bad. After about three hours, Aqua stopped to have some mango strilps with guacamole for a snack. Then something whizzed past her in the sky. It was a griffin! Aqua knew from story books that they were half eagle half lion. But this one was different! It was half cat and half butterfly. “Hi,” said the cat butterfly shyly. “May name’s Trinket. What’s yours?” Then Aqua responded, “ Aqua’s my name. I ran away, and I don’t have any idea where I am!” Trinket said excitedly, “Welcome to the land of Unique! Where anyone or anything is welcome! If you would like to stay just follow me, and I’ll show you where you’ll be staying!” There Aqua lived for the rest of her life.
